Our flight to Rwanda was long but that was expected. Sue was able to curl up into a ball in the sea and fall asleep with her head on my lap. I did not have that opportunity or ability myself so I stayed awake the full 30 hours.
We arrived In Kigali Rwanda at about midnight. And were shown our apartment before we crashed. The YWAM base is on the edge of the city so the base is surrounded by little shops and houses and one busy street, and walking distance to hills and farmland.
So far our time here has been indescribable. All I can say is that the people, the land, the sun, the views, the food, everything has been amazing.
We are staffing the upcoming January Discipleship Training School (DTS). We are staffing the school alongside two other amazing YWAMers here who have been working here for years. We are arranging speakers, creating a school schedule, communicating with potential students and looking into and praying about different outreach locations. The DTS starts on January 4th 2017 and ends on June 23rd. We are looking for more students, so spread the word!
Sue and I are also taking a class in a local café to learn to speak ikinyarwandan. We are picking up the language fairly quickly with the help of the friends we made here and are excited to be able to speak even more as we learn the ins and outs of getting around a new country.
Needless to say we are having a great time here! The people are as warm and inviting as the climate. We have been so blessed and protected here we are constantly amazed at the ways God has been with us so far and are excited for everything to come with DTS!
